Ask for recommendations: Reach out to friends, colleagues, or business associates who have experience with construction projects, especially in the restaurant industry. Interview multiple contractors: Meet with several contractors (we recommend at least three) in person to discuss your project. Pay attention to their communication skills, attention to detail, and willingness to listen to your needs.

Request Bids: After narrowing down your preferred contractors through the actions above, ask the contractors you’ve chosen (again, we recommend at least three, no more than five during bid process) for detailed bids that outline the scope of work, materials, labor costs, and timelines. Compare these bids to ensure they align with your budget. You will also want to carefully qualify the bids against each other.

Review Contracts Thoroughly: Once you’ve selected a contractor, carefully review the contract. Ensure it includes all project details, payment schedules, deadlines, and dispute resolution procedures.

Communicate Effectively: Maintain open and clear communication with your chosen contractor throughout the project. Regular updates and discussions will help prevent misunderstandings.
